Seemed like a long time since the Iloilo Kpop Organization had a major event, but it was just three months since the Iloilo Dream Kpop Fantasy Showcase.
This June, another collaboration stage by the Iloilo Kpop Organization and SM City Iloilo was held to give motivation to students in this school year to do well in their studies. The organization and SM City both shouted out to “use that-something-you-love as a staircase to step upward and become successful in the future.”
As how members of IKO use Kpop as their strength to dream bigger and achieve higher, proven by members who are now professionals like the emcees Iveca (founder of the organization) and Danica who are both registered nurses. To add, other two emcees, Juni and Lorraine (the president of the organization), are also achievers in school and student leaders.
The program was filled with spectacular performances from different cover groups and artists as usual. The performances are specially patterned to things that happen in school.
Category 1: Variety of Groups in School
Put Your Hands Up with various cover groups that depict how students have their own group of friends in school based on their likes, passion, abilities, attitudes, etc.
PROJECT A (Secret cover group) – the first performers and coincidentally, their debut performance.
GeeDee (Girls Generation cover group) – These girls had a lot of member changes but they are always getting better in their every performance. A fun mixed of SNSD songs like I Got A Boy, Dancing Queen and Love & Girls.
PRI5M (TeenTop cover group) – showed their cuteness with their “Ms. Right” stage.
B2STLY (Beast cover group) – but performed the hormone-rising A.D.T.O.Y. of 2PM! Girls, boys, gays and even lesbians were screaming much during this stage.
R-ME (4Minute cover group) – R-Me is one of the first cover groups in IKO. Now, the old members (above) are retiring. This stage let them introduce the “new R-ME” just like how the first generation idol groups BABY VOX and JEWELRY changed all of their members.
Category 2: Campus Crushes make student life go round
KISSES (Girls Day cover group) – another debuting group. They started with the cute and innocent image as when Girls Day started. They performed “Twinkle, Twinkle”
After Shock (After School cover group) – showed how a “Diva” would do when she likes someone.
KM Dolls (APink cover group) – as tamed and pure as the Apink members, that’s how these girls displayed admiration with “My My”
Djuke (Jay Park cover artist) – girls all screaming and singing along with “JOAH” as Djuke and his DJ Entertainment family gave the crowd a cheesy yet kilig-much stage.
Category 3: School makes you HEARTBROKEN with grades, exams, crushes, love lives, angry teachers and parents, etc.
Helix D – a sub-unit of the cover group Helix (which covers Infinite) performed “Be Warmed” by Davichi to mend our broken hearts.
B3A2 (B1A4 cover group) – another hyper-fun stage from this group with loud fanchants from the crowd from the start til the end of the song. Dancing “What’s Goin On?” covered sadness with a smile.
C-UNIT (a collaboration project group of Iloilo Kpop Organization) – made up of the best of the best from cover boygroups in IKO. These guys never failed to impress. Who would remember a broken heart if the members of C-UNIT sing and dance “Rain Sound” in front of you?
KIMSSHI – one of the 1st generation cover groups in IKO gave a heart-warming performance of uBeat’s “Should Have Treated You Better”. Kiss Me’s were uncontrollable hearing the song.
Category 4: MOVE ON with all the hardships in school
K-ARA N4 (T-ara N4 cover group) – a sub-unit of the cover group K-ara which covers T-ara. The stage was full of laughter and shouts as they collaborate with BBA members who are famous with their girlgroup dances. Surely, moving on is easy in this way!
EL!TE – they made way for G.I., a rookie idol group, this time around and still as powerful as their previous f(x) covers. Gee Gee Gee I don’t care as what they say with “Beatles”.
Category 5: Competition in school
Bloxx Productions featuring Djuke – showcased a dance showdown. The members of Helix displayed their amazona moves like wolves, while Djuke made the crowd wild with his electrifying hip hop moves.
Category 6: Being in School is ONE GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Beat by Arts (B.A.P. cover group) – the END PERFORMANCE. We were all busted as these boys ridiculously made us leave our mindset in oblivion with their glass-breaking performance. Truly, everyone was in awe. Everyone wants to do the push-up moves with BBA, and everyone still has the energy for more.
Performing on stage is also one shot, one opportunity and one chance to show your best like in school, everything is done once. You cannot go back and change what you had done, what you had been, what you had tried to do. Being a student is like performing on stage, you must perform with passion and determination to make people smile and cheer for you.
IKO would like to say that it is nice to be back in school with KPOP!
